Stand By Me Rhetoric

Rodger Ridley, Las Vegas, NV, United States
He was one of the featured artists on this music video.

Invention:
The producers of this music video, the Playing for Change team, needed to find many different street musicians who knew the song, "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King. They had to contact some of them beforehand and fly over there to meet them. They also needed to understand the place and/or country. The team also needed to find the cost of each of his flights and also the cost of any equipment that would be very useful in capturing each artist effectively.

Disposition:
The team organized this music video in a very unique way. The video started with one artist and then moved on to another one and each artist it transitions to was in a different place and was singing a different part of the song. More towards the end of the music video, the video was edited to where it joined all the artists together, making the song flow as if it was one single song being sung as a group. This part sounded like all the musicians were all in the same place, singing together in harmony.

Style:

The team displayed their argument through the very popular and universal song, "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King, by having many different musicians around the world sing it. All these musicians were outside and/or on the city streets. Some of these artists would play with instruments or have a band playing with them. None of the musicians played in any kind of formal places like a concert or opera so virtually anybody could have had the chance to listen to these artists.

Memory:
The Play for Change team found these musicians that would put their heart and soul into anything they sing and/or play. This makes the song appear more passionate and heartfelt.

Delivery:
Play for Change team delivered their argument through a song in a music video. Since the team traveled all around the world to produce this video, the song format makes sense as music is very universal. The team did not prepare a speech because it would only be understood in one language. The song that is being sung is also in one language but that is not the only element implemented in their music video. The beat of the song can also speak to people as well.

The images that impacted me the most was when the team films multiple groups of people singing and playing the song. These group of people were happy doing it together and I felt that that was one way the team tried to convey the idea of being together. At the end of the video, the musicians and groups of musicians played this song had attracted a lot people to come watch them. These people all watched peacefully and cheered happily for these artists when they finished performing. This image contradicts violence because it has brought a lot of people to come and enjoy music together.
